Franklin Pierce Volleyball Player Recognized for Efforts Off the Court

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 12, 2015

RINDGE, N.H. – Senior volleyball player Catie Swiderski may have finished off her career on the court at Franklin Pierce, but her off the court contributions have also been recognized as she was one of three in the country awarded the Dig Pink Award presented by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Side-Out Foundation.

The award is presented to a "well-rounded student-athlete" who share values both on the court and in the classroom, as well as in the community. The Side-Out/AVCA National Dig Pink Award is presented to an athlete "who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to the sport and to their community". Along with the award, Swiderski also becomes one of three Side-Out Ambassadors around the country.

Swiderski finished up arguably one of the best careers in Franklin Pierce volleyball history in 2014. She has been the backbone of the Ravens all four years of her career, leading the team in almost every offensive category this past season.

She finished with over 300 kills on the season, and earlier this year eclipsed the 1,000 kill plateau for her career, becoming only the sixth person to do so at Franklin Pierce. Her best game of the season came with a career-high 24 kills in one game at Assumption.
