Five teams, eight
individuals from
Northeast-10 headed to Spokane, Wash.
SOUTH EASTON, Mass.
– The qualifiers for the 2013 NCAA Division II Cross
Country Championships were announced on Monday
afternoon.
Among the women’s teams, Bentley University,
Merrimack College and Stonehill College were all selected, while
individually, Adelphi University senior Elizabeth
Eickelberg, American International College junior
Alexandria Stasiuk and Saint
Michael’s College junior Chloe
Boutelle all qualified.
Among the men’s qualifiers, Franklin Pierce University and
Stonehill garnered selections. Individually, Adelphi senior
Nick Filippazzo, Assumption College
junior Tony Fiermonte and American
Int’l sophomore Michael Biwott and
freshman John Chirchir and Southern
Connecticut State University redshirt senior Asher
Brandt all qualified.
This year’s NCAA Championships will be held on Saturday,
November 23 at the Plantes Ferry Sports Complex in Spokane, Wash.,
while the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the Spokane
Regional Sports Commission will co-host the championships.
The women’s race will take place first at 1:30 p.m. Eastern
time, followed by the men’s race at 2:30 p.m. EST.
The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship.
