Stonehill & Southern Connecticut Picked First in NE10 Cross Country Pre-Championship Polls

MANSFIELD, Mass.  – Stonehill women's cross country was picked to win its 11th consecutive NE10 Championship, while Southern Connecticut was selected first on the men's side after earning its first NE10 Title in 2018. The 39th annual Cross Country Championships will take place this Sunday, October 27, at Jamesville Beach Park in Jamesville, N.Y.

Sunday's racing will begin with the women's 6K starting at 11 a.m. The men will follow at approximately 12:15 p.m. A map of the park and the course can be found on the Championship Page HERE

The Skyhawks claimed the top spot in the women's poll with 13 of 14 first place votes for 169 points as they look to win their 11th straight NE10 Title and 18th overall. Southern N.H. was in second with 143 points as the Penmen seek the program's first-ever top-three finish. Adelphi was picked third with 140 points while Assumption (140) and Saint Anselm (126) rounded out the top five. 

Southern Connecticut looks to claim its second-ever NE10 Championship after capturing nine first place votes for 159 total points. American International secured the five remaining first place votes to total 152 points, tying with Stonehill who also had 152 points. The Yellow Jackets look to win the program's first NE10 Title since they claimed three straight from 2014-16, while the Skyhawks won the NE10 Championship in 2017. Southern N.H. placed fourth with 138 points, followed by Franklin Pierce (120) and Assumption (110) in the top six.
