NE10 Sweeps East Region of the Year Awards as USTFCCCA All-Region is Announced

USTFCCCA ALL-REGION AWARDS | USTFCCCA ALL-REGION HONORS

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Following the NCAA Division II East Regional two weeks ago, Franklin Pierce, Southern Connecticut and Southern New Hampshire took home major All-Region Awards as announced by the USTFCCCA. 

Southern New Hampshire swept the Women's Athlete and Coach of the Year, with Ashley Corcoran and Rich Marcello earning the honors. Corcoran was the NE10 Individual Champion, East Region Individual Champion and NE10 Athlete of the Year. Head coach Rich Marcello led the Penmen to the program's first-ever NE10 and East Region Titles. 

On the men's side, Wondu Summa of Franklin Pierce was named East Region Athlete of the Year after earning NE10 Athlete of the Year honors and being crowned the East Region Individual Champion. John Whalin, Southern Connecticut head coach, earned East Region Coach of the Year accolades. He led the Owls the first place finishes at both the NE10 and East Region Championships. 

Combined, the NE10 had 31 student-athletes earn All-Region honors. For the men, there were 17 including seven from SCSU, five from Franklin Pierce, three from AIC and two from Assumption and SNHU. For the women there were 14 total, with four from SNHU, three from Adelphi and AIC and one each from Assumption, Saint Anselm, Saint Michael's and SCSU. 

All-Region selections are determined by placement at the regional championship. The Top-25 finishers for both the men's and women's races are awarded All-Region honors. For the full list of All-Region honorees, please click here

The NCAA National Championships will take place today, Friday, December 2 with the men's race at 1:00 p.m. Eastern and the women's following at 2:15 p.m. Eastern. Both races will be held at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, WA. Seattle Pacific University will serve as the host.
