NE10 Releases Academic Honor Roll; 276 Earn Academic Excellence Accolades

4,077 Student-Athletes Named to Academic Honor Roll for Fall, 2018.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Northeast 10 Conference announced that 4,077 of its more than 6,000 student-athletes have been named to the Academic Honor Roll for the fall semester of 2018 – accounting for 60-percent of the entire student-athlete body among 15 full-member institutions and one associate member.

The Academic Honor Roll acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes to excel in the classroom with three designations – Academic Excellence (4.0 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA) and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49 GPA).

Of those recognized, a remarkable 276 student-athletes earned Academic Excellence accolades – recording a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall semester. Merrimack had a league-best 38 student-athletes earn a 4.0, while Southern New Hampshire (27) and Le Moyne (25) were second and third in the category.

“Out student-athletes continue to achieve at very high levels in the classroom. I am so proud of their accomplishments,” said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert. “The commitment to academic excellence from our member institutions is unmatched in the country and these numbers prove it.”

For the second-straight semester, 13 of the conference’s 15 member institutions had at least 50-percent of their total student-athlete population claim Academic Honor Roll status. Bentley had 381 student-athletes honored, the most of any school in the NE10.

Merrimack had 328 student-athletes included, the second-best mark in the league, while Assumption came in at third with 312. Four schools – Adelphi, Le Moyne, Pace and SNHU – had at least 40-percent of their entire student-athlete population record a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Adelphi had 79-percent (269 out of 341) of its overall student-athlete population named to the Academic Honor Roll – the top-rate of any school in the league – while Bentley came in at second with 75-percent and Le Moyne in third at 71-percent. Nine schools had at least 60-percent of their student-athletes earn a place on the AHR.

Football led all sports in representation with 359 student-athletes on the AHR, while women’s soccer (352) came in second and baseball (283) came in third. The NE10 had 11 sports produce more than 200 student-athletes with a minimum 3.0 GPA for the fall semester.
