Panthers' Food Drive Donations Went to Island Harvest.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the Adelphi Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently hosted a canned food drive to benefit Island Harvest -- the largest hunger relief organization on Long Island.

The student-athletes were asked to donate non-perishable items to the cause, with a total collection of 553 goods.

"It was amazing to see all of the teams come together for a great cause and collect so many cans. It's the perfect way to help out our local community just in time for Thanksgiving," said field hockey captain and Adelphi SAAC President Jackie Brown.

As countless families continue to endure financial struggles in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the Adelphi student-athletes pitched in to help those in need of putting food on the table this holiday season.

"This year has been tough for all. It's very rewarding to give back in times like these. The student-athletes did an incredible job of getting involved and helping their community," SAAC Coordinator Brittany Cullinane stated.

Island Harvest is hosting a Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign to raise funds to provide a meaningful holiday experience to those who struggle with hunger each day. To help donate towards their $100,000 goal, please click here.
