An NE10 Hall of Fame honoree, Dr. George Hagerty served as the President of Franklin Pierce University for 15 years, 1995-2009, and was a crucial component of the school’s transition into the Northeast-10 prior to the 2000-01 academic year.

Hagerty’s impact on the Ringe campus was significant, especially in the realm of athletics as multiple programs became athletic powerhouses during his tenure. He also helped to fundraise and oversee the construction of new athletic facilities, which continue to benefit student-athletes to this day. Hagerty led the fundraising push for the construction of the school’s first multi-sport turf field, Sodexo Field, as well as Pappas Field, the home of Franklin Pierce baseball, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Activity Center at Northfields (The Bubble).

During Hagerty’s final nine years, while the Franklin Pierce was a member of the Northeast-10, the Ravens captured 13 NE10 Championships and one national crown, in men’s soccer. He guided the institution from a college to university status in 2007. Hagerty was heavily involved in athletics behind the scenes as the head of the NE10 Council of Presidents in 2007 & 2008. He also served as the head of the NCAA Division II Presidents’ Council in 2005 & 2006.

Hagerty came to Franklin Pierce from his alma mater and NE10 institution, Stonehill College. At Stonehill, he had served in a variety of roles, including associate professor of political science and director of academic support. He currently serves as the President of Beacon College, located in Leesburg, Florida.
