Northeast-10 Announces 2012-13 Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Nominees

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference is pleased to announce its nominees for Male and Female Outstanding Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

A committee made up of faculty members and athletic administrators conducts voting for the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete awards. The two student-athletes will be recognized at the Northeast-10 annual year-end banquet next month.

The male nominees are American International College’s Sesoo Ikpah, Assumption College’s Kevin Donahue, Bentley University’s Weston Zeiner, Franklin Pierce University’s Ryan Thompson, Le Moyne College’s Josh Klepfer, Merrimack College’s Joe Mantoni, University of New Haven’s Mark Palmieri, Pace University’s Bobby Horn, Saint Anselm College’s Jonathon O’Reilly, Saint Michael’s College’s Eric Parziale, The College of Saint Rose’s Chris Healy, Southern New Hampshire University’s Jordan Branco, and Stonehill College’s Dana Borges.

The female nominees are Adelphi University’s Emily Dorko, American Int’l’s Devan Boundy, Assumption’s Amanda Guy, Bentley’s Beth Maguire, Franklin Pierce’s Aya Noguchi, Le Moyne’s Christie Morano, Merrimack’s Kelly Schatzlein, New Haven’s Rachel Putorti, Pace’s Elyse Rowland, Saint Anselm’s Allyn Doyle, Saint Michael’s’ Megan Olsen, Saint Rose’s Caitlin Brauer, Southern Connecticut State University’s Jaclyn Sullivan, So. New Hampshire’s Daniela Abruzzese, and Stonehill’s Paige Frost.

The criteria for being nominated for Scholar-Athlete award states a student-athlete must be in their final year of athletic eligibility during 2012-13, must be graduating with a degree this May (unless in a master’s program), must be enrolled in a full-time course load, and must have a minimum final cumulative grade point average of a 3.30.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
