Sixty-one student-athletes receive recognition
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The
Northeast-10 Conference announced its Academic All-Conference teams
for the 2013-14 winter athletic season on Thursday morning, with 61
student-athletes representing 14 different member institutions
receiving recognition.
Student-athletes participating in men’s and women’s
basketball, ice hockey, men’s and women’s swimming
& diving and men’s and women’s indoor track &
field have been honored for their outstanding achievements both in
the classroom and during competition.

To be eligible for selection to the Northeast-10 Academic
All-Conference Teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or
exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at
least half of the team's competitions and been either a starter or
significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point
average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic
year at his/her current institution.
Bentley University and Southern Connecticut State University both
led the way with nine total student-athletes selected to the
Academic All-Conference teams, while Stonehill College had seven
recognized.
Eleven student-athletes were named to the 2013-14 Women’s
Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference Team, while 10 were
named for men’s swimming & diving and both men’s
and women’s indoor track & field.
Women’s basketball had eight honored, ice hockey had seven
and men’s basketball had five.
The 2013-14 Winter Academic All-Conference class includes Bentley

Smith, who both earned Northeast-10 Men’s
Basketball First Team honors; Southern New Hampshire University
sophomore Jim Gabrione, a 2014
Northeast-10 Ice Hockey First Team choice; Pace University grad
student Kaitlyn Lynch, the 2014
Women’s Swimmer of the Year; and University of New Haven
junior Ada Udaya, the 2014 Northeast-10
Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division
II colleges and universities located in New England and New York
that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic
opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year,
4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships
in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the
country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the
classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10
is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it
provides student-athletes.
