Northeast-10 Announces 2013-14 Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Nominees

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference is pleased to announce its institutional nominees for its 2013-14 Male and Female Outstanding Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, both of which will be announced at the conference’s annual yearend banquet next month in Burlington, Vt.

A committee comprised of faculty members and athletic administrators from Northeast-10 schools votes on the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete awards. The criteria for nomination states that a student-athlete must be in his or her final year of athletic eligibility in 2013-14, must be graduating with a degree this May (unless in a master’s program), must be enrolled in a full-time course load and must have a minimum final cumulative GPA of 3.30. 

The male nominees are Adelphi University’s Aidan Bennardo (lacrosse), American International College’s Cassio Schwab (tennis), Assumption College’s Michael Bates (football), Bentley University’s Kent Kozar (football), Franklin Pierce University’s Cody Kelley (lacrosse), Le Moyne College’s Patrick Wiese (baseball), Merrimack’s Eddie Newton (baseball), University of New Haven’s Frank Vilacha (baseball), Pace University’s William Scioscia (lacrosse), Saint Anselm College’s Nicholas Dries (ice hockey), Saint Michael’s College’s Chris George (soccer), The College of Saint Rose’s Dominykas Milka (basketball), Southern Connecticut State University’s Paul Ryskowski (cross country/track & field), Southern New Hampshire University’s Derrick Sylvester (baseball) and Stonehill College’s James Lanier (football).

The female nominees are Adelphi’s Devan Crimi (lacrosse), American Int’l’s Alison Fitzsimmons (soccer), Assumption’s Tanya Robidoux (softball), Bentley’s Lauren Battista (basketball), Franklin Pierce’s Natasha Ray (volleyball), Le Moyne’s Sarah Harrison (softball), Merrimack’s Keaira Monet Perry (softball), New Haven’s Monica Yanez (soccer/track & field), Pace’s Kaitlyn Lynch (swimming & diving), Saint Anselm’s Monique Gauthier (softball), Saint Michael’s’ Elena Bilodeau (cross country), Saint Rose’s Sydney Bond (soccer), So. Connecticut’s Anna Pleban (swimming & diving), So. New Hampshire’s Phoebe Clark (lacrosse) and Stonehill’s Devin Ingersoll (field hockey).

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
