Over 73 Percent of NE-10 Teams Garner GPA of 3.0 or Higher

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced its 2014-15 Team Academic Excellence Award winners on Wednesday, recognizing the program achieving the highest team grade point average in each of the conference’s 24 sports throughout the academic year.

Of the NE-10’s 287 athletic teams, over 73 percent garnered a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. That is the highest percentage in conference history since the team awards were first given out in 2010, and it is up roughly four percent from 2013-14.

Bentley University had the most winners, claiming the highest GPA in 10 different sports. All 22 of the Falcons’ NE-10 athletic programs earned a 3.0 GPA or higher, the most of any institution in the conference as well.

Eight different Northeast-10 member institutions had at least one winner. Adelphi University was next with four, Southern New Hampshire University had three, American International College and Le Moyne College both had two apiece, while the University of New Haven, Pace University and The College of Saint Rose each had one winner.

The East Region Champion Adelphi softball team posted the highest team GPA (3.784) of any NE-10 program for the second year in a row, the highest GPA of any Team Academic Excellence Award winner in conference history. Adelphi also had the most teams with a GPA of 3.5 or above with a total of five.

Over 25 percent of all Northeast-10 teams had GPA’s of 3.3 or higher led by Bentley’s 14. The lone sport to have all of its teams achieve at least a 3.0 was women’s golf after its first season as an NE-10 sport.
