Award Winners to Be Honored at Year-End Banquet this Sunday
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The finalists for four of the Northeast-10 Conference's major awards have been announced. The 2016-17 NE10 Man and Woman of the Year, and the Conference's Male and Female Outstanding Scholar-Athletes of the Year finalists have been released.
The award winners will be announced and recognized at the league’s annual awards banquet this Sunday, June 4 in Foxboro, Mass. "These are truly some of the best of the best in the NE10," said Commissioner Julie Ruppert. "We are proud of each of these outstanding young men and women, and all of their tremendous accomplishments."
Each school nominated a student-athlete for each award and the 15 nominations have been narrowed to three finalists for each award.
Man / Woman of the Year Finalists:
The finalists for the Woman of the Year Award are Adelphi’s Rachel Colvin (field hockey), Assumption’s Rachel Avard, (cross country / track & field) and Merrimack’s Carly Muscaro (track & field).
The NE10’s Man of the Year finalists are Adelphi’s Alejandro Penzini, (soccer), Le Moyne's Tim Buff (swimming), and Pace's Brandon Donnellan (lacrosse).
Male / Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Finalists:
The Male nominees are are Le Moyne's Buff - a dual finalist, Merrimack's Jaime Cortes Torres (soccer), and Saint Michael's Danny Divis (ice hockey).
The Female Scholar-Athlete award finalists are Adelphi’s Jacqueline Jahelka (lacrosse), Assumption's Avard (a dual finalist), and Merrimack's Muscaro, also a dual finalist.
