Over 50 percent of all
student-athletes
named to honor roll for second straight semester
South Easton, Mass. – The Northeast-10
Conference has announced its Commissioner’s Honor Roll for
the 2012 spring semester, with a total of 2,901 student-athletes
from the conference’s 16 member institutions receiving
recognition.
The Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes the
conference’s student-athletes for their achievement in the
classroom. Of those that were honored, 137 student-athletes earned
a perfect grade point average of 4.0 and 47 percent of the honored
student-athletes sported a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
This spring’s list also features 50.3 percent of all
student-athletes in Northeast-10 sponsored sports.
“We're extremely proud of the continued academic
accomplishments of our student-athletes,” said Northeast-10
commissioner Julie Ruppert. “Over 50 percent of all
student-athletes were named to the honor roll in both the fall and
the spring, and that’s a tremendous
accomplishment.”
Bentley University had the highest number of student-athletes
honored with 351, followed by Stonehill College with 240 and
Adelphi University with 205.
Bentley also led the way in terms of percentage, with 70 percent
(351 of 499) of its student-athletes being named to the spring
honor roll. Adelphi was second with 64 percent and Le Moyne College
was third with 61 percent.
In all, 10 of the 16 Northeast-10 schools had over 50 percent of
their student-athletes placed on the honor roll.
American International College saw 22 of its 160 student-athletes
honored earn 4.0 GPAs, marking the most for any school for the
spring semester. Merrimack College was second with 16 earning 4.0
GPAs, while Adelphi and The College of Saint Rose both had 13
apiece.
By sport, women’s soccer had the most student-athletes
honored with 283, followed by football with 252.
To be eligible for selection to the Northeast-10 Commissioner's
Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have met and or exceeded a
minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during
the Spring '12 semester.
