MANSFIELD, Mass. – As part of its #EMBRACEyourVOTE campaign, the Northeast-10 Conference is proud to provide its student-athletes, coaches and administrators with an informational session on Tuesday night entitled, "Voter Education Webinar: Local Elections and How They Affect You."

Southern Connecticut Director of Athletics Jay Moran will sit down with Stonehill College's Peter Ubertaccio, Ph.D., to discuss the importance of voting in local elections and how people can become more involved in the electoral process close to home. Media coverage is usually scarce for local elections, so information will be provided for attendees as to how they can stay informed on the issues that affect them the most.

The webinar will take place tonight from 7-8 p.m. and registration is required for the event. Attendees can register for the webinar HERE.

Moran, in addition to his duties as Owls' athletic director, serves as the Mayor of the Town of Manchester (CT). He is in his fourth term as the town's mayor after being elected to the position in 2013. Moran is currently in his seventh season at SCSU.

"I'm honored to be involved in this discussion and thank the NE10 for allowing me to be a part of its voter education initiative," said Moran. "Now, more than ever, it's important to vote. I look forward to having a vibrant and educational discussion on a topic that I feel is critically important in 2020."

Ubertaccio, widely regarded as an expert on American political development, political parties and institutions, is the Founding Dean of the Thomas and Donna May School of Arts & Sciences and an Associate Professor of Political Science at Stonehill. A published scholar and author, Ubertaccio is a sought-after analyst on state and national politics, having been quoted in the Boston Globe, New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal, while making appearances on NBC Boston, New England Cable News, WGBH and Fox 25 Boston.

A question-and-answer segment for attendees will occur toward the end of the webinar. Register today to be a part of the conversation!
