NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert Joins Manuel, Chun on NACDA Panel to Discuss NIL

Ruppert NACDA Panel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NPR's Robin Young to Serve as Moderator.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner Julie Ruppert will be part of a National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) panel on Wednesday afternoon entitled, "NIL: What Do Athletic Departments Need to Do to Educate and Empower Their Students and Coaches."

Ruppert will join fellow panelists Warde Manuel, the Director of Athletics at Michigan and NACDA President, and Pat Chun, the Director of Athletics at Washington State, for the discussion at 3:30 p.m. ET. Robin Young from National Public Radio will serve as the moderator for the panel, which is sponsored by Goulston & Storrs Law Firm in Boston.

NIL – otherwise known as name, image, and likeness – underwent a drastic change in early July when a number of states' NIL laws went into effect, providing student-athletes the ability to monetize their NIL rights. The NCAA had previously stated it would no longer enforce its prohibition on such monetization.

Ruppert, the only panelist from the Division II ranks, will provide her insights on what this new NIL landscape could mean for collegiate athletic departments and what it could mean for student-athletes. The webinar will focus on the opportunities and risks for colleges and universities permitting student-athletes to sell or license their name, image and likeness, as well as how the playing field can be leveled among schools.

The session is open to NACDA and Affiliates members only. To register, click HERE. If the Zoom webinar is full when logging on at 3:30 p.m., the live feed of the panel discussion will also be accessible through NACDA's YouTube channel.
