Assumption Leads the Pack in NE10 Presidents’ Cup Standings Following Fall Season

Presidents' Cup - 2021 Fall

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Assumption with Narrow Lead Over SNHU and Stonehill.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – At the conclusion of the fall season, Assumption holds a narrow lead in the 2021-22 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings after capturing league championships in both men's golf and field hockey – on its way to a league-best 78.5 point total.

Four NE10 institutions are within eight points of each other at the top of the competitive Presidents' Cup standings, as Assumption holds a one-point lead over second-place Southern New Hampshire (77.5) and a two-point lead over third-place Stonehill (76.5). American International sits in fourth (71.0).

The NE10 Presidents' Cup is presented annually at the conclusion of the academic year, signifying overall athletic excellence in the league. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based on finishes in the regular season standings from all of its programs competing in league championships.

Assumption looks to claim its first NE10 Presidents' Cup in school history; previously, the Greyhounds' best finish in the standings was third place on five different occasions – most recently in 2019-20. In addition to men's golf and field hockey titles, Assumption had fourth-place finishes in football and women's soccer – as well as fifth-place finishes in both the NE10 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships.

SNHU won the NE10 regular season title in women's soccer and finished in second for women's tennis – recording nearly one-third of its point total in those sports alone – as it sits behind Assumption by a one-point margin. Stonehill tied for second in volleyball and third in field hockey, while earning top-three finishes in the NE10 Cross Country Championships, to earn third place in the standings.

American International earned the maximum number of points in men's cross country, women's cross country and volleyball after its three NE10 titles this fall. Rounding-out the top five in the standings are Bentley and Franklin Pierce, who are tied for fifth at 68 points.

Franklin Pierce won the Presidents' Cup season championship in the spring of 2021. Adelphi, Le Moyne, Southern New Hampshire and Bentley completed the top five behind the Ravens.
