NE10 Championship Preview: Feb. 25-27

NE10 Championship Preview: Feb. 25-27

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The NE10 Men's Basketball Championship is slated to begin with two first round games on Friday and three on Saturday, as the impending snowstorm in the Northeast region has caused schedule changes to the postseason dates. Quarterfinals will now be played on Monday, Feb. 28, with the semifinals on Thursday, March 3, and Sunday, March 6.

The full schedule for Friday and Saturday is below. Every game is available to watch live and for free on NE10 NOW – the Conference's digital streaming platform.

Friday

Assumption (#6 NE) at Adelphi (#3 SW) – 7:00 p.m.
Le Moyne (#5 SW) at Stonehill (#4 NE) – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

SNHU (#5 NE) at Saint Rose (#4 SW) – 1:00 p.m.
AIC (#7 SW) at Franklin Pierce (#2 NE) – 3:00 p.m.
SCSU (#6 SW) at Saint Anselm (#3 NE) – 3:30 p.m.

In 11 of the past 13 years, the NE10 Men's Basketball Championship has been won by a different team. The only repeat champions in that stretch are Southern New Hampshire (2013, 2016) and Saint Anselm (2017, 2020). It will be anyone's tournament when competition begins on Friday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The NE10 Women's Basketball Championship will begin on Friday and Saturday with first round action, as three games are scheduled for both days. The incoming snowstorm disrupted the Championship schedule, which will now see the women's quarterfinals played on Monday, February 28 (originally Sunday, February 27). The semifinals and championship final dates remain the same, with Thursday, March 3, and Sunday, March 6, respectively.

The full schedule for Friday and Saturday is below. Every game is available to watch live and for free on NE10 NOW – the Conference's digital streaming platform.

Friday

Saint Rose (#6 SW) at Stonehill (#3 NE) – 5:30 p.m.
New Haven (#7 SW) at Bentley (#2 NE) – 6:00 p.m.
Saint Michael's (#7 NE) at Pace (#2 SW) – 7:00 p.m.

Saturday

Assumption (#5 NE) at SCSU (#4 SW) – 1:30 p.m.
AIC (#5 SW) at Saint Anselm (#4 NE) – 1:30 p.m.
Franklin Pierce (#6 NE) at Adelphi (#3 SW) – 3:30 p.m.

Since 2010, Bentley has won six NE10 titles – but over the past four seasons, the Championship has produced four different winners. History is on the side of Southern New Hampshire, the Northeast Division's No. 1 seed, and Le Moyne, the Southwest Division's No. 1 seed – as 14 of the last 15 NE10 Women's Basketball Championship titles have been earned by top-seeded teams.

ICE HOCKEY

The NE10 Ice Hockey Championship is set to begin on Saturday with three matchups in the first round, as Southern New Hampshire – which earned the regular season championship – claims a bye this weekend. The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, and the championship final on Saturday, March 5.

The full schedule for Saturday is below. Every game is available to watch live and for free on NE10 NOW – the Conference's digital streaming platform.

Saturday

Saint Michael's (#5) at Post (#4) – 5:45 p.m.
Stonehill (#7) at Saint Anselm (#2) – 6:00 p.m.
Franklin Pierce (#6) at Assumption (#3) – 7:30 p.m.

Four different NE10 institutions have captured the Ice Hockey Championship title over the past four seasons – breaking a trend where Saint Anselm won six NE10 titles since 2009-10. Stonehill is the reigning NE10 champion and has won two of the past five title games, while top-seeded SNHU last won the league championship in the 2018-19 season.
