NCAA MEN'S BASKETBALL

The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Regional begins on Saturday, as Northeast-10 Conference champion and top-seeded Bentley prepares to serve as host this weekend at the Dana Center. The quarterfinals are scheduled all day Saturday, with the semifinals on Sunday and the championship game on Tuesday.

This past Sunday night, the NE10 had five men's basketball teams selected to play in the East Regional – the first time since the 2016-17 season that the Conference had that many programs earn an NCAA bid. NE10 teams earned the top three seeds, as well as five of the top six. In seven of the last eight seasons, the NCAA DII East Regional men's champion has come from the NE10 – including most recently with Saint Anselm in the 2018-19 season (NCAA East Regional was not played in 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the NE10 didn't play during the 2020-21 season).

Mercy (3-1) is coming off an 8-7 loss to top ranked Le Moyne, where the hosts held a 7-4 halftime advantage before being shut out in the second half. Bentley is 2-0 to start the year after wins over Georgian Court and St. Michael's.

No. 2 Indianapolis at No. 1 Le Moyne: Mar. 13 – 12:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

When No. 1 Le Moyne hosts No. 2 Indianapolis on Sunday, it will be a possible foreshadow of opponents for the 2022 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship – as the two high-powered programs meet in an early-season matchup at Ted Grant Field. Both teams enter Sunday with undefeated records – including a combined four wins over nationally-ranked programs. The Dolphins (2-0) are coming off an 18-13 win over former No. 1 and reigning NCAA champion Lindenwood (Mo.).

Le Moyne made a leap in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll this week – going from No. 4 to No. 1 – after its victory over Lindenwood (Mo.). The Dolphins are led by graduate student Erin McMullen – the reigning NE10 Southwest Division Attacker of the Year – with her team-high 10 points through two games (eight goals, two assists). Senior attacker Jessica Meneilly has a team-best nine goals. UIndy is led by Abigail Lagos, who has 22 goals and four assists, while Audrey Moran has been solid in goal with a .500 save percentage and 6.5 GAA.
