NE10 Weekend Preview: Mar. 25-27
Every Friday, the NE10 is going to highlight the biggest contests each weekend. It may be a big-time rivalry, matchup between two ranked teams or a battle for playoff-positioning. Fans can follow the action for every game by visiting our schedule page.

MEN'S LACROSSE

No. 11 Saint Anslem at No. 3 Adelphi: March 26 – 1 p.m. (Live Stats - Video)

The Panthers (4-0, 2-0 NE10) have moved up to third in the nation and face off against a tough Saint Anselm team (3-1, 1-1 NE10) which is coming off a 7-5 loss to Le Moyne last weekend. The two teams rank third and fourth in the NE10 in scoring defense, and it's the first meeting between the two teams since Panthers took them down 17-7 on March 16, 2019.

The Hawks feature a balanced offense as four players have at least ten points. Jack Andrews had a team-high 14 goals and 16 points while Jack Robinson has 14 assists and four goals. CJ Hart had been dominant in net, posting a 6.91 GAA with a 61.9 save percentage. Kyle Steinbach leads the Adelphi offense with eight goals and three assists, while Michael Paccione has dished off eight assists. Defensively it starts with Sean McGovern who has posted 12 caused turnovers and 16 ground balls.

Franklin Pierce at No. 16 Bentley: March 26 – 1 p.m. (Live Stats - Video)

The Ravens are a perfect 4-0 and face their first ranked team of the season when they travel to face 3-1 Bentley. The No. 16 Falcons are coming off an 18-5 victory over Saint Rose while Franklin Pierce took down Assumption 10-9 in overtime. Last year Bentley earned a 12-6 victory on the road over Franklin Pierce.

This season the Ravens have been led by Luke Jaber and Ben Baldasaro. The duo have combined for 26 goals as the team is averaging 14.25 per game. Keaton Roarick has started all four games in net with a 8.62 GAA and 52.9 save percentage. Nathan Taylor has anchored Franklin Pierce, leading the NE10 in GAA (5.46) while ranking second in save percentage (63.3). Offensively, Stephen Ell leads the team with 17 goals and one assist.


WOMEN'S LACROSSE

No. 15 Pace at No. 6 Le Moyne: March 26 – 11:00 a.m. (Live StatsVideo)

It will be a battle of top-15 nationally-ranked teams on Saturday morning when No. 6 Le Moyne hosts No. 15 Pace at Ted Grant Field. The Dolphins (4-2, 1-1 NE10) look to avenge a recent conference loss to Stonehill, while the Setters (5-1, 2-0 NE10) are coming off a pair of NE10 wins against Saint Rose and Southern Connecticut.

Le Moyne's Jessica Meneilly is tied for an NE10-high with 24 goals this season, while teammate Erin McMullen – the NE10 Southwest Division Attacker of the Year – is tied for eighth with 17. Pace is led by Aleya Corretjer – who ranks second among NE10 players with 35 points this season (19 goals, 16 assists).

No. 3 Adelphi will get a road test when it travels to play No. 19 Assumption on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers (5-0, 2-0 NE10) look to extend their winning streak to start the 2022 season. Adelphi is coming off a pair of wins over NE10 opponents in SNHU and New Haven, while also holding a win this season over then-No. 1 UIndy back on March 16. Adelphi is one of the highest-scoring teams in the NE10 with 16.4 goals per game this season, while also allowing just 5.41 goals per game to opponents – tops in the NE10.

Assumption (3-3, 1-1 NE10) lost a tight game to No. 14 Bentley on Tuesday night, but holds victories this season over Saint Leo and Lynn – two teams receiving votes in the most recent ILWomen/IWLCA poll. Alison Foley leads the Greyhounds with 22 points in six games.


BASEBALL

Conference play begins on the diamond this week around the NE10, as Pace travels to play Southwest Division rival New Haven in a four-game set to open the league schedule. The Chargers (10-4) have won six of their last seven games, including a doubleheader sweep of Caldwell last Sunday. The Setters (7-6) split a doubleheader with Goldey-Beacom on Sunday.

Matt Almonte, the reigning NE10 Player of the Week, leads Pace into the weekend series with a .404 batting average through 13 games – along with five home runs and 17 RBI. New Haven's Andrew Cain is off to a hot start as well, ranking fifth in the NE10 in batting average (.447) in 14 games.

Reigning NE10 champion SNHU will begin its quest to repeat when Stonehill visits Penmen Field to open conference play in a four-game series. The Penmen (10-4) recently lost two of three at Adelphi, which snapped a four-game winning streak. The Skyhawks (10-10) have won four of their last five contests, while taking three out of four games from Saint Rose last weekend.

SNHU's Sam Henrie ranks sixth among NE10 players in batting average (.439), tied for second in RBI (19) and tied for third in overall hits (25). Stonehill freshman Peter Haas has been a force on the mound for the Skyhawks, going 3-1 in his first four starts with a 1.67 ERA in 27.0 innings pitched. Haas is a one-time NE10 Pitcher of the Week and three-time NE10 Rookie of the Week.


SOFTBALL

Adelphi at Saint Anselm: March 26 – 12 p.m. (DH) (Live StatsVideo)

Last year's NE10 Divisional Champions meet up again in Manchester as they look to stake a claim as the best team in the NE10 this year. The Panthers come into the game with a 13-7 record while the Hawks are 7-8, though they've won four straight against Adelphi and are 5-1-1 over the last seven matchups. 

Saint Anselm is batting .221 as a team with a .308 on-base percentage, led by Baily Cain at .455/.565/.606. Haile Hicks led the team with a 7-1 record and 1.46 ERA to go with 45 strikeouts in 57.2 innings. Claire Fon and Lindsey Hibbs are coming off back-to-back perfect games against Queens and have posted ERA's of 1.43 and 2.49 this year. The two have also combined for 132 strikeouts in 110.1 innings of work. As a team, Adelphi is hitting .298 with 12 triples and seven home runs.

 St. Michael's at Franklin Pierce: March 26 (Live Stats - Video)

It's the conference opener for both teams this Saturday as Franklin Pierce looks to stay perfect on the year and St. Michael's looks to start off NE10 action strong. The Ravens lead the NE10 with a 10-0 record this season, batting an NE10-best .331 with a .403 on-base percentage. St. Michael's owns a 3-8 record but is fifth in the NE10 with a .292 average and has already belted an NE10-best 17 home runs this season. 

Leading the powerful Purple Knight lineup is Jenna Devens, who is batting .459 with an NE10-best .838 slugging percentage thanks to four home runs and 17 hits. Marli Welter also has four home runs. Jackie Cherry leads the pitching staff with a 2-5 record and 4.50 ERA. Ashley Cangiano is a batting .480 with a .500 on base percentage to pace the Ravens offensively. Abbey Primavera owns a 4-0 record with an 0.80 ERA while Sabrina Gonzalez has a 1.11 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 25.1 innings.
