NE10 Weekend Preview: April 8-10
Every Friday, the NE10 is going to highlight the biggest contests each weekend. It may be a big-time rivalry, matchup between two ranked teams or a battle for playoff-positioning. Fans can follow the action for every game by visiting our schedule page.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Pace at Bentley: April 9 – 12:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

It will be a battle of ranked teams when No. 14 Pace visits No. 20 Bentley on Saturday afternoon in Waltham, as the Setters look to continue building momentum and the Falcons look to snap a losing skid. Pace (7-3, 4-2 NE10) has won back-to-back games against Southern New Hampshire and No. 21 New Haven, while Bentley (4-4, 3-3 NE10) has dropped its last two to No. 25 Saint Rose and Southern New Hampshire.

Pace is led by its pair of top scorers – Kayla Conway (28 goals, nine assists) and Aleya Corretjer (20 goals, 17 assists) – who each have tallied 37 points this season. The Setters rank third among all NE10 teams in goals per game (15.2). Bentley's leading scorer is Maeve Johnson, who has 23 points (20 goals, three assists) this season.

Assumption at Le Moyne: April 9 – 4:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

Coming off a big road win over No. 19 Saint Anselm, No. 18 Assumption looks to maintain its momentum – but will have a difficult task when it visits No. 10 Le Moyne. The Greyhounds (6-4, 4-2 NE10) have won three-straight games, including two against nationally-ranked opponents, while the Dolphins (7-3, 4-2 NE10) have won four of their last five – with the only loss coming by a 14-13 margin to No. 21 New Haven.

It is setting up to be a high-scoring affair, as top scorers Jenna Joseph from Assumption and Jessica Meneilly from Le Moyne square-off. Both players have a team-high 39 points this season. Assumption and Le Moyne are two of the top-five scoring offenses in the NE10, with the Dolphins (15.3 goals per game) ranking second and Greyhounds (14.4 goals per game) ranking fifth.


MEN'S LACROSSE

Pace vs. Franklin Pierce: April 9 – 1:00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

The Ravens are coming off an impressive 10-9 comeback victory over Saint Anselm in overtime to improve to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in NE10 action. Pace, meanwhile, is 7-2 but just 3-2 in conference play after falling to No. 4 Adelphi 11-8 this week. This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2019.

The Setters lead the NE10 in scoring this year, averaging 15.8 goals per game, to go along with a league-best 125 caused turnovers. Individually, they have three of the NE10's top five scorers let by Kyle Casey with 46 points on 28 goals and 18 assists. The Ravens are averaging 13 goals per game but rank second in the NE10 by only allowing 7.4 per game. Freshman Mike Masterpolo made his first collegiate start against St. Anselm and finished with 19 saves for the victory in net.

Saint Anselm at Saint Rose: April 9 – 1 :00 p.m. (Live StatsVideo)

Both teams are coming off overtime contests on Wednesday, as the Hawks fell 10-9 to Franklin Pierce while the Golden Knights beat St. Michael's 11-10. The loss dropped St. Anselm to 4-4 and 2-3 in the NE10, while the St. Rose is 7-4 (2-2 NE10), with all four losses to nationally ranked programs.

St. Anselm is third in the NE10 in scoring at 13.4 goals per game this year, but ranks 10th in shots on goal as only 55 percent of its shots have been on target this year. The Golden Knights are averaging 11.9 goals per game, led by Eddie Baker who has an NE10-best 31 goals with nine assists year. Jack Robinson has paced the Hawks' offense with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points.


SOFTBALL

Southern N.H. at Saint Anselm: April 9 – 1:00 p.m. (DH) (Live Stats - Video)

It's a battle for the Queen City and third place in the NE10 standings when the Penmen (6-2 NE10) and the Hawks (6-2 NE10) square off on Saturday. SNHU has won four straight conference games after falling twice to Adelphi, while Saint Anselm has won its last six games. The Hawks have won 11 of their last 12 games against SNHU and allowed more than two runs just twice during that span.

The Hawks have allowed two or fewer runs in six of their eight conference games and rank fifth in the NE10 with a 3.03 ERA. They are hitting .236 overall but are only slugging .316, led by Bailey Cain who is hitting .356 with 21 hits, 16 runs and 14 walks. SNHU is batting .252 this year, thanks in part of Chloe Griffin who is hitting .307 with 23 hits, 13 runs and 12 RBI.

Saint Rose at Southern Connecticut: April 10 – 12:00 p.m. (DH) (Live Stats - Video)

The Owls (3-5 NE10) and Saint Rose (3-5 NE10) look to put themselves in playoff position when they square off on Sunday for a crucial doubleheader. Southern Connecticut has lost four straight conference games, with three of them coming via walk-off, while the Golden Knights have dropped six straight overall, including each of the last four by matching 4-2 margins.

SCSU is hitting .283 this year and is second in the NE10 with a .367 on-base percentage, but the team's 4.20 ERA is 12th. Jaqueline Dumont leads the NE10 with a .441 average with seven doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI. Saint Rose is batting just .237 this year and ranks 14th in the NE10 in slugging (.312). In eight conference games the pitching has managed to post an impressive 1.78 ERA.  


BASEBALL

In a four-game series this weekend between Northeast Division rivals, Assumption will host Stonehill – which will include a Saturday doubleheader at Polar Park, the home of the Worcester Red Sox. Assumption was the first team to play at the newly-created stadium on May 8, 2021, sweeping Southern New Hampshire in a doubleheader. It will be the second-straight season that the Greyhounds host an NE10 opponent at Polar Park. For more info on Saturday's festivities, click here.

Assumption (13-10, 6-2 NE10) is currently in second place of the Northeast Division and is coming off a road loss to New Haven on Tuesday. Junior pitcher Jack Choate leads the Greyhounds on the mound, as he is a two-time reigning NE10 Pitcher of the Week. Stonehill (12-16, 2-6 NE10) recently split a four-game set with Saint Michael's and is led by rookie pitcher Peter Haas – who ranks second among NE10 hurlers with a 1.64 ERA this season.

Adelphi, who started receiving votes in the NCBWA rankings this week, looks to stay hot in NE10 play when it travels to play Southern Connecticut this weekend in Southwest Division play. The Panthers (16-5-1, 7-1 NE10) are 11-1-1 in their last 13 games, with the tie coming at Mercy this past Tuesday after 12 innings of play. Adelphi slugger Kyle Olson leads all NE10 players in batting average (.455) and hits (40) this season.

SCSU (17-6, 4-3 NE10) has won four of its last six conference games, including a 7-6 victory at Saint Rose on Wednesday. The Owls, currently in third place of the Southwest Division, are led by senior Andrew Eng – who leads the team in home runs (6), RBI (29), walks (17), runs (31) and slugging percentage (.640).
