ALL-TIME WOMAN OF THE YEAR WINNERS

Brown Becomes Second-Straight and Fourth Overall Adelphi Athlete to Earn Award.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the fourth time since Adelphi joined the Northeast-10 Conference in the fall of 2009, the coveted NE10 Woman of the Year award is coming back to Garden City.

Jackie Brown joins an elite group of Adelphi female athletes, after being named the 2022 Northeast-10 Woman of the Year, announced Thursday evening during its second-ever virtual NE10 Awards Show.

She joins the elite company of Alison Johnson '21, Chelsea Abreu '19 and Brenna Martini '18 and will go on for consideration for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Brown helped lead Adelphi to its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2015 and a runner-up finish in the 2021 NE10 tournament. She was selected as a First Team All-American on defense this past season, for her second career honor. The Port Jefferson, N.Y. native earned her undergraduate degree in management with a 3.81 grade point average.

She served as president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for two years - including a challenging remote COVID year - and was heavily involved in the department's efforts for Make-A-Wish and the NE10's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

From Brown's personal statement, "one of the most fundamental lessons I learned is that every student-athlete faces their own type of adversity, however having the right mentality is the key to overcoming any obstacle," she expressed.

"And yet during that struggle, and when I at times felt powerless not having the answers to my medical issues, I turned to SAAC - It was there that I was able to use the leadership skills I learned on the field as well as through my business management classes to be a presence on campus and use my voice to help improve the overall student-athlete experience."

A two-time Panther Leadership Award recipient, Brown will continue her time with the Panthers from the sidelines, serving as a field hockey assistant under first-year head coach Jess Mulhern
