SNHU Claims First-Ever Presidents' Cup in 2021-22

Presidents' Cup 2021-22

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SNHU Holds Off Adelphi for Top Spot.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the first time since the 2018-19 academic year, the Northeast-10 Conference is proud to present its annual, full-season Presidents' Cup trophy – and is excited to announce Southern New Hampshire University as the 2021-22 winner. It is the first Cup for the Penmen in their department's history.

The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the NE10. During the COVID-19 pandemic the past two years, the Conference recognized only seasonal champions for the Presidents' Cup. This year's award encompasses the full school year, with the fall, winter and spring seasons combined.

"Congratulations to all of the student-athletes, coaches and administrators at Southern New Hampshire on their first full-season Presidents' Cup trophy," said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert. "This year has been a celebration in many ways, as it marked the return of all of our 24 sports. We are thrilled to have successfully completed a full year for the first time since 2018-19. SNHU's accomplishments – as well as those of all of our NE10 institutions – speak to the resolve of each athletic department on campus and their collective commitment to the student-athlete experience."

The Presidents' Cup is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based upon overall regular season finishes in the team sports and final placement in the annual NE10 Championships in individual sports.

Southern New Hampshire scored 171.5 total points, besting second-place Adelphi (161.5) and third-place Bentley (152.0). Despite Adelphi earning a league-best 70.0 points in the spring season, SNHU maintained its lead following the winter season by tallying the maximum number of points in baseball and women's outdoor track & field. The Penmen led all NE10 schools in 2021-22 when it came to percentage of maximum points earned at 77% for the Presidents' Cup.

In addition to baseball and women's outdoor track & field, SNHU earned maximum points from women's soccer, women's basketball and ice hockey after winning NE10 regular season championships in each this year.

Franklin Pierce and Stonehill tied for fourth place with 151.5 points, while Assumption was just outside the top five with 147.5 points.
