Nearly 77% of NE10 Programs Record GPA of 3.0 or Better.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference is proud to announce the winners of its 2021-22 Team Academic Excellence Award, honoring the programs with the highest team GPA in each of the league's 24 sponsored sports. The Conference made its announcement on Monday afternoon.
Nearly 77-percent of the Conference's 273 teams achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, while over 40-percent tallied a GPA of 3.3 or better. To see the complete list of honorees, please see below. In total, 22 award plaques are distributed, with indoor and outdoor track & field combined into one due to the same roster of student-athletes competing in both seasons.
Overall, 209 of 273 NE10 programs (76.56%) had at least a 3.0 GPA, while 111 hit the 3.3 mark. There were 42 programs that achieved a 3.5 or higher, an increase from 28 during the 2018-19 academic year.
Five different NE10 institutions had multiple teams honored, as Adelphi boasted a league-high seven selections and Southern New Hampshire was second with five. Pace (3), Bentley (2), Le Moyne (2), Franklin Pierce (1), New Haven (1) and Saint Rose (1) rounded-out the list.
Among the honorees were two NE10 champions, as Adelphi softball and Southern New Hampshire women's outdoor track & field were recognized. Adelphi women's tennis had the single-highest GPA of any NE10 team with a 3.890.
The NE10's full membership GPA was 3.142. When combined with four associate members in the sports of field hockey and ice hockey, the GPA increased to 3.143.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021-22 season is the first time that the Conference has recognized Team Academic Excellence Award winners since 2018-19.
