Men's Program Won NCAA Title; Women's Program Won East Region Title.
MANSFIELD, Mass. –Franklin Pierce made itself known this fall on the soccer field, which culminated last Friday by winning the East Region Coaching Staff of the Year award in both men's and women's soccer, as announced by United Soccer Coaches.
Ruben Resendes led the Franklin Pierce's men's program to an undefeated season and its second-ever NCAA Championship title, the first for an NE10 program since Southern New Hampshire in 2013. His assistant coaches – Brendan Pacheco, Andres Martins and Dominik Machado – are also recognized for their outstanding work in leading the Ravens to the top of all of Division II.
Matt Johnson helped the Franklin Pierce women's team to a share of the NE10 regular season championship in 2022, as well as the program's first East Region title in 15 years with a win over previously-unbeaten and defending champion Saint Rose. His assistant coaches were Daniel Milton, Rachel Hardy and Kevon Isa.
Each of the 52 (26 men's and 26 women's) staffs receiving Region Staff of the Year honors will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Thursday, January 12, in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Region Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the ballot for United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division. National Staff of the Year voting opened on Dec. 7.
