Adelphi Leads Presidents' Cup Standings After Dominant Fall Season

PC Standings - Fall 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Franklin Pierce Leads Men's Standings; Adelphi In Control of Women's Standings.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Coming off a fall season where it captured top-three finishes in eight different sports, Adelphi leads all Northeast-10 Conference institutions in the Presidents' Cup standings, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon. Adelphi earned 83.5 points - a remarkable 85% of its maximum amount of points for the fall season - to earn a double-digit lead over the rest of the field.

Adelphi won NE10 Championship titles in both men's golf and women's tennis, while earning a regular season title in volleyball and a pair of second-place finishes in women's soccer and women's cross country. The Panthers also captured third-place finishes in women's golf, men's soccer and men's cross country.

Bentley sits in second place with 70.5 points, while the next three schools - Saint Anselm (68.0), Southern New Hampshire (65.0) and Franklin Pierce (64.5) - are all within 3.5 points of each other.

The NE10 Presidents' Cup is presented annually at the conclusion of the academic year, signifying overall athletic excellence in the league. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based on finishes in the regular season standings from all of its programs competing in league championships.

For the first time in NE10 history, the 2023-24 academic year will also recognize Men's and Women's Presidents' Cup champions, increasing the total number of honorees to three (overall, men and women). Following the fall season, the Franklin Pierce men (31.5 points) and the Adelphi women (54.5) lead the standings, respectively.

Franklin Pierce, the reigning NCAA Division II Men's Soccer champion, won the NE10 title for the third-consecutive season in November, and also earned a second-place finish at the NE10 Men's Cross Country Championship. Narrowly trailing on the men's side is Bentley (31.0), Adelphi (29.0) and Saint Anselm (26.0).

Adelphi won the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship and claimed the volleyball regular season title to help push it ahead of the pack in the women's standings, as it holds a nine-point lead over Southern New Hampshire (45.5). Saint Anselm (42.0) and Bentley (39.5) are also within 15 points of the Panthers.

Saint Anselm - the NE10 field hockey champion - ranks in the top four of all three standings, while New Haven - the NE10 football and women's golf champion - is in the top seven across the board.

SNHU is the reigning two-time Presidents' Cup champion, while Adelphi and Bentley rounded-out the top three in the 2022-23 overall standings.
