Football to host Franklin Pierce at Polar Park on Oct. 9​

WORCESTER, Mass.- For the first time in program history, the Assumption University football team will play on a baseball diamond as Polar Park will transform into a gridiron field on October 9th.

The Greyhounds will take on the Franklin Pierce University Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference action on Oct. 9, with a noon kickoff at Polar Park, the home of the Worcester Red Sox (AAA Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox).

"We are extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity and continued partnership with the Woo Sox and Polar Park," stated Assumption Director of Athletics Eric Gobiel. "This is a truly special and unique experience for our football program and the University. We greatly look forward to seeing the park transformed into a first-class football venue and seeing you all in the stands in a few weeks!

"We are looking forward to representing Assumption and Worcester on October 9th!"

Assumption went 5-5 overall and 5-3 in NE-10 action in 2021, which led to a fourth-place finish in the conference. The Greyhounds kick-off the season on Saturday, September 3rd, as they host No. 13 Kutztown University at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium, beginning at noon.
