Southern New Hampshire set to
host regional for third straight year

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Northeast-10 Conference rivals and regional powerhouses Southern New Hampshire University and Franklin Pierce University have both been selected to the 2014 NCAA Division II Baseball East Regional, which will be hosted by So. New Hampshire at Penmen Field in Manchester, N.H. May 15-18.

The host Penmen (39-12) received the top seed in the six-team field, while Franklin Pierce (35-16) earned the No. 2 seed for the double-elimination tournament.

The regional will get underway on Thursday, with So. New Hampshire taking on sixth-seeded Felician (29-18), the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament champion, at 11:00 a.m. and Franklin Pierce drawing fifth-seeded Dowling (33-15), which received an at-large berth out of the East Coast Conference (ECC), at 3:00 p.m.

So. New Hampshire capped a 4-0 week in conference championship play by claiming its first-ever Northeast-10 title on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Adelphi University, while Franklin Pierce fell in the Northeast-10 single-elimination first-round on Wednesday against Stonehill College.

Wilmington (Del.) (34-9-1) and St. Thomas Aquinas (34-15) received the third and fourth seeds, respectively, and will square off against one another on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

So. New Hampshire athletics announced ticket prices late Monday for this weekend's action.  Tickets for each day will be $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students with ID, senior citizens and children ages 2-12.  Children under the age of 2 will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship.
