NE10 Field Hockey Report: Week 7

Field Hockey - Week 7

Week 7 - October 17, 2022

NE10 Player of the Week

Alyssa Sacco, Mercy
Graduate | Forward | Patchogue, N.Y.

Sacco had a team-high three goals and six points as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The graduate student scored the game-winning goal in Mercy's 3-2 win over Pace on Tuesday and scored two goals at Southern N.H. on Saturday.

NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Taylor Geaglone, New Haven
Graduate Student | Midfield | Enfield, Conn.

The leader of the Chargers back line, Geaglone was the biggest piece of organizing a defensive line that shut down every single attacking opportunity in a 6-0 shutout of Molloy, leading to an outing where the Lions were unable to even register a shot in the contest. She also added to the scoring tally in that game with a single goal, her third of the season. In the Chargers 2-1 OT win over Assumption, Geaglone again held the defensive unit strong as the Chargers back line were able to shutdown the Greyhounds leading scorers.

NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week

Lauren Viscione, Mercy
Graduate Student | Goalkeeper | Phillipsburg, N.J.

Visicone went 1-1 on the week with 34 saves, a 2.50 goals-against average and .872 save percentage in two starts. The graduate student opened the week with a career-high 21 saves with just two goals allowed in the win over Pace on Tuesday. The goalkeeper ended the week with a game-high 13 saves at Southern N.H. on Saturday.

NE10 Rookie of the Week

Jasmijn Van Drunen, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Forward | Bilthoven, Netherlands

Van Drunen scored the game-winning goal off of a penalty corner by teammate Hailey Galison, as STAC defeated #10 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm, 1-0, to earn a key NE10 victory.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Anna Beck, Franklin Pierce (Jr., B - Attleboro, Mass.)
Keyed a defensive effort which held opponents to two goals and just 10 shots on goal in a 2-0 week for the Ravens, which included a shutout. Also scored twice on three shots (two on goal) at the offensive end of the field). Scored in the third quarter of Tuesday night's 4-2 win at AIC, and did the same in Saturday's 3-0 win at Molloy. The Franklin Pierce defense held Molloy to just three shots on goal on Saturday.

Gabi Sturgeon, Franklin Pierce (Sr., F - North Granby, Conn.)
Scored three times on five shots (four on goal) in a 2-0 week for the Ravens. Found the net in the second and fourth quarters of Tuesday night's 4-2 win at AIC, for her first career multiple-goal game. Struck in the third quarter of Saturday's 3-0 win at Molloy.

Flynn Kirk, Mercy (Jr., D - New City, N.Y.)
Kirk had a game-high two defensive saves in the Mavericks 3-2 win over Pace on Tuesday.

Keira Integlia, New Haven (Gr., GK - Branford, Conn.)
In her return to the field following injury, Integlia stood strong for the Chargers as the won the battle of undefeated NE10 teams to improve to 6-0 and remain at the top of the standings in sole possession of the top spot. Integlia would finish her 71 minutes of work in the cage with 10 saves, including a diving stop in the fourth quarter that kept the game tied at one and eventually forced the overtime period.

Sophia Ruh, New Haven (So., M - Ocean City, N.J.)
Ruh had easily the best goal of her career, and the first of her collegiate career, come at the perfect time as she scored in overtime to break a 1-1 draw and secure a 2-1 victory over the No. 7 Assumption Greyhounds with that goal winning the battle of undefeated teams as the Chargers improved to 6-0 in NE10 play. With both teams battling for the golden goal, Ruh would take a restart outside of the circle, dribble one-on-one with a defender into the attacking zone and fired a straight shot that found its way past the keeper to the bottom right corner of the cage.

Amanda Lewandowski, Saint Anselm (So., F - Franklin, Mass.)
Lewandowski scored both goals for the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College field hockey team on Wednesday, helping the Hawks to a huge 2-1 victory over Bentley. She scored the game's opening goal and added the second strike just minutes later.

Bridgie Loughlin, St. Michael's (Jr., F - Kingston, N.Y.)
Loughlin scored twice in the Purple Knights' 4-2 win at Southern Connecticut State on Friday, bookending a four-goal third quarter with tallies in the 32nd and 41st minutes.

Hailey Galison, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr., M/D - Wantagh, N.Y.)
Galison recorded two consecutive defensive saves on the same offensive sequence by Saint Anselm and also earned an assist on the game-winning goal by the Spartans, as Galison was responsible for inserting the ball to teammate Jasmijn Van Drunen on a penalty corner.

Tori Geaglone, Southern Conn. St. (Sr., M/D - Enfield, Conn.)
In a 1-1 week, Geaglone had a hand in four of the five Owls' goals in two games while also recording two defensive saves. Geaglone had a goal off a penalty stroke and two assists in a 3-0 win against Saint Thomas Aquinas. Against Saint Michael's Geaglone had a goal and also two defensive saves.

Eliza Bates, Southern N.H. (So., F/M - Newport, N.H.)
Bates had a career-game on Saturday with a goal and two assists as SNHU won 3-2 over Mercy College. Bates had not scored this fall before the contest against the Mavericks.
