NABC HONORS COURT RELEASE | NABC TEAM ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Stonehill with League-Best Seven Selections to Honors Court.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference was well-represented in the 2020-21 National Association Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, as announced on Tuesday, with 20 men's basketball student-athletes from four programs being recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
The NABC Honors Court awards men's basketball student-athletes in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA who excelled in the classroom during the past academic year. To qualify, a student-athlete must meet the following set of criteria:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Division I institution with an NABC member coach.
Stonehill led all NE10 men's basketball programs with seven selections, while Pace was second with six. Bentley and Saint Rose also had players named to the NABC Honors Court. The NE10 did not sponsor formal competition for men's basketball during 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, four NE10 men's basketball programs earned NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for their remarkable performance in the classroom. Bentley, Pace, Saint Rose and Stonehill were selected for this honor for the high academic achievements of their entire programs.
In its ninth year of existence, the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award honors outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2020-21 season. To earn the award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and two-year colleges must count the GPAs of all men's student-athletes on the basketball roster during the academic year.
