Dolphins Capture Third NE10 Title in Program History.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Le Moyne men's golf team claimed the 2021 Spring Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Tuesday evening at Springfield Country Club, the first title for the program since 2016 and its third overall.

Sophomore Nicholas Bove captured the Gordon McCullough Memorial Award with individual medalist honors after shooting a +3 (147) over 36 holes of play, leading the Dolphins to victory. The NE10 Men's Golf Championship was the first championship hosted by the league since March 8, 2020 – a full 408 calendar days missed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was a one-day, 36-hole tournament, and the Dolphins (+31) won by an 11-stroke margin. Assumption and Franklin Pierce tied for runner-up at +42, while Southern New Hampshire (+44) and Bentley (+50) rounded-out the top five finishes.

The Dolphins received contributions from Bove, as well as freshman Spencer Baum, who placed third overall on the leaderboard at +6 (150) and earned a spot on the All-Championship Team. Freshman Tyler Birdd and senior Ryan Johnson tied for 11th place at +12 (156), while sophomore Luke Barney finished tied for 20th at +14 (158).

Trailing by one stroke after the first round, Le Moyne posted a league-best +12 over the final 18 holes. The Dolphins were the only team to have all five of its golfers card sub-80 scores in the second round on Tuesday. Bove led the field with 27 pars, while Baum led in birdies with eight.

The All-Championship Team performances included Franklin Pierce sophomore Michael Sosik, who finished second overall at +4 (148) and Southern New Hampshire's Matt Conti who placed fourth at +7 (151). Assumption freshman Sean Magarian and Franklin Pierce graduate student Liam Donohue tied for fifth at +8 (152).

In five of the past seven seasons, Le Moyne has finished either first or second in the NE10 Men's Golf Championship under head coach Joe Tesori.

Bentley's Ellis Yoder was named the Elite 24 Award winner for the second time in his career. His 3.968 GPA in computer information systems led all golfers on Tuesday. The Elite 24 honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site of each NE10 Championship.
