Ellis Yoder

ALL-TIME MALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR WINNERS

Yoder Becomes Second Bentley Student-Athlete to Earn the Honor in Past Three Years.

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's Ellis Yoder, a golfer who earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in just four years, has been named the 2020-21 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the Northeast-10 Conference. The announcement was made Monday evening when the conference held its annual awards ceremony in a virtual format.

Yoder not only earned both degrees in the four-year span, but he did so by sparkling in the classroom, earning a 3.968 grade point average as an undergraduate and a 3.91 in his graduate work. His Bachelor of Science came in computer information systems, and he attained his Masters in data innovation.

On the course, the Falcon co-captain was one of Bentley's top players the last three seasons, putting up stroke averages of 78.1, 75.8 and 77.1. Yoder finished a solid career with a 77.5 stroke average over 46 rounds.

Northeast-10 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the latest honor Yoder has earned during his time at Bentley. This list includes 2019-20 CoSIDA NCAA Division II Men's At-Large Academic All-America third team, Academic All-Northeast-10 twice, two-time recipient of the D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, 2019-20 All-Northeast-10 third team and a 2019-20 Cleveland/Srixon All-America Scholar.

Yoder has twice received the NE10's Elite 24 Award for golf as the student-athlete competing in the conference championships who has the highest GPA. He was presented with the team's Most Improved Player Award in 2019 and the team's Richie Powers Honor Award in 2020.

"Ellis has been the most outstanding student in Bentley golf program history," said coach Mickey Herron. "Couple that with consistent improvement with his golf game, due to tireless effort on his part, makes me proud to weigh in on his accomplishments and overall character."

Yoder is the sixth Bentley student-athlete to received the prestigious honor, following in the footsteps of Jack Hansbury (football, 2019), Lauren Battista (basketball, 2014), Weston Zeiner (soccer, 2013), Jennifer Walker (field hockey, 2005) and Brian Castagna (swimming, 2004).
