Men's Golf Championship on Sunday (Oct. 2) and Monday (Oct. 3).
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Leading up to the 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship, reigning champion Assumption has been picked by the league's head coaches to once again win the title, according to the Pre-Championship Poll released on Thursday afternoon.
The Greyhounds recorded 91 points with five first-place votes, edging out Southern New Hampshire by a single point for the top spot. The Penmen secured 90 points and five first-place votes for second, while Franklin Pierce finished third with 88 points and the final first-place tally.
Le Moyne will serve as host of the NE10 Men's Golf Championship at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y. It is a 36-hole tournament, with Sunday's round beginning at 8:30 a.m. and Monday's round slated as a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live scoring for the Championship will be available on GolfStat.
Assumption has claimed two of the past three NE10 titles – its only two in program history - including last fall at the Concord Country Club by 15 strokes over second-place Le Moyne. Since 2017, four different programs have won NE10 titles and five different programs have earned runner-up finishes. Adelphi was the last team to win back-to-back NE10 Championships (2012 and 2013).
Southern New Hampshire's Jeff Liss – the 2021 Gordon McCullough Memorial Award for individual medalist honors – looks to defend his title in the Championship this year. He won the tournament by three strokes over Assumption's Sean Magarian.
New Haven joins the field this season as a newly-formed men's golf program under the direction of head coach Matt Ward. The Chargers are part of the 11-team field that will be competing for the trophy this week.
