NE10 Men's Lacrosse Teams of the Week: AIC, Bentley

AIC - BENTLEY - Lax graphic

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 men's lacrosse programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

American International

Head coach Tim Robbins on his senior class - "This years' senior class consisted of two of our captains, Eddie Bettie & Matt Quinlan. Matt came to AIC as an attack but has played nearly every position since and I feel comfortable plugging Matt into any situation at anytime. It has been a pleasure to watch him grow and excel as leader on and off the field. Eddie played goalie in high school and has played multiple positions here at AIC. He is the definition of a great teammate, his ability to adapt and grow his craft are traits we all should emulate. Eddie finished as #2 in the nation in caused turnovers and our extra man unit finished as #23 in the nation.

I am saddened to see this year lost in this manner and heartbroken to see the misfortune that COVID-19 has caused across the globe. I would like to celebrate the efforts of all the first responders and health care professionals everywhere.  I am anticipating brighter days and am excited to see how the Yellow Jackets respond and grateful for the opportunities that await!"

Season Recap
AIC opened the season with a loss to nationally ranked Mercy but responded with consecutive wins and eventually finished the year at 2-4 overall. Eddie Beattie set the all-time school record for caused turnovers with 67and boasted 24 saves in goal in our win vs. Post University. Quinlan, meanwhile, ended with four goals and seven assists, including seven points in the team's win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Bentley

Head Coach Jim Murphy on his senior class – "Our graduating leaders have been instrumental in creating a culture of hard work and success, on and off the field.  It is most noticed in the academic success they have attained and how they show the underclassmen how to focus and be leaders.

Their leadership was challenged this past fall when teammate, friend and fellow leader Max Evensen passed away. The senior group stepped up in this time of loss to show leadership to the team, campus and the Evensen family & friends. This group will be greatly missed on the field and on campus but we know their level of commitment will be seen through their teammates for years to come."
