NE10 Player of the Week
Daniel Zabbia, Pace
Sophomore | Attack | Dix Hills, N.Y.
In two games, Zabbia scored 11 goals and added one assist for 12 points on the week. The sophomore scored six in the Setters' 13-6 win over Molloy, then netted five and an assists in the 18-8 win at Wilmington. Zabbia alsos caused four turnovers and picked up three ground balls.
NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Ryan Mimnaugh, Pace
Sophomore | Defense | Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.
Mimnaugh had eight ground balls and six caused turnovers in two games for the Setters. He had a team-high 5 GB and 1 CT in season-opening win against Molloy.
NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week
Matt Vavonese, Le Moyne
Senior | Goalkeeper | Syracuse, N.Y.
Vavonese registered 13 saves, including six in the second quarter and four in the third, as the second-ranked Dolphins recorded a 15-13 victory over seventh-ranked Indianapolis on Sunday. Vavonese also picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers in the win.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Noah Gibson, Saint Rose
Freshman | Attack | Rochester, N.Y.
Gibson tallied nine goals and one assist across a 1-1 week for Saint Rose. The freshman started the stretch with four goals and a helper at #10 Saint Anselm before logging five scores, including the game-winner in overtime, to help Saint Rose come back to defeat Post 16-15 on Friday.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Ryan Butler, Adelphi (Sr., D - Seaford, N.Y.)
Adelphi men's lacrosse put up a 2-0 week in non-conference action and held its opponents collectively to single digit scoring. Helping that cause was Ryan Butler who caused a pair of turnovers in each contest while scooping up five ground balls along the way.
Joseph Duchnowski, Adelphi (Sr., A - Port Washington, N.Y.)
In a week where Adelphi outscored its opponents 34-7, Joseph Duchnowski was responsible for eight points behind a 63.6 shot on goal percentage He tallied a hat trick against AIC, while adding three helping and also collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers in the seven-goal victory.
Hayden Gaudette, AIC (Fr., G - Bennington, Vt.)
Gaudette had a strong showing in net for AIC against No. 4 Adelphi, stopping 12 shots for a 54.5 save percentage. He held the highly-regarded Panthers to just one second half goal.
Joe Nutting, Franklin Pierce (Gr., A - Amherst, Mass.)
It was quite a productive week for Pierce men's lacrosse, and much of that had to do with graduate attacker Joe Nutting. Through two games played this past week, Nutting put up 10 points on 10 goals scored, attempting 14 total shots (12 on goal) to help the Ravens to a 2-0 performance. Of his goal totals, seven came in a recent victory over Caldwell University on March 4th. Through the pair of contests, Nutting also snagged two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Joe Pezzimenti, Le Moyne (Jr., A - Victor, N.Y.)
He tallied a career-high six goals, including three in the first 16 minutes as the Dolphins built an 8-1 lead, to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 15-13 victory over seventh-ranked Indianapolis on Sunday.
Louis Ragusa, Pace (Sr., G - Syracuse, N.Y.)
Two wins in two starts this season, has a 5.86 GAA and .560 save percentage on 49 shots faced. Also had seven ground balls and an assist on the week.
David Olsen, Saint Anselm (Sr., G - Salem, N.H.)
In his first collegiate start between the pipes, senior David Olsen made eight saves on 13 shots for nationally-ranked Saint Anselm in its 16-8 victory over Saint Rose. Olsen picked up his first collegiate victory with the result.
Ryan Slattery, Saint Anselm (Sr., D - North Andover, Mass.)
Slattery collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers, aiding the Hawks to a 16-8 season-opening win over Saint Rose on Mar. 1. Slattery also attempted one shot while limiting the top Saint Rose attackman to just one goal and one assist in the contest.
Ronan DePaul, Southern N.H. (Jr., G - Elkton, Md.)
SNHU opened the season with an 11-10 win at Molloy on Saturday. Ronan DePaul came up with a key stop with three seconds left to preserve the win, his ninth save of the contest. It was DePaul's seventh career win for the Penmen.
Chris Valentine, Southern N.H. (Gr., A - Derry, N.H.)
Chris Valentine led the Penmen with four goals and two assists in Saturday's season-opening win at Molloy. The graduate student has now scored 118 points (86 goals, 32 assists) in his 43 games with the Penmen.
