Le Moyne's Jared Howard Named Player of the Year, as NE10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Teams Announced

 Franklin Pierce Leads NE10 with Seven Players Earning Nine All-Conference Selections.


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Le Moyne senior Jared Howard has been selected as the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Vern Cox Men's Tennis Player of the Year, as the league office announced all-conference honors on Monday afternoon.

For a complete list of all-conference recipients, please see below. Franklin Pierce had a league-high seven players earn nine selections, while Southern New Hampshire had six players win seven selections. Le Moyne, the top seed in the NE10 Men's Tennis Championship, had six players earn six selections.

Howard, a native of Malmesbury, South Africa, went 6-0 at No. 1 singles this season and 8-0 in singles action overall, helping the Dolphins win the regular season championship and a first-round bye in the league tournament. He was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. Jared teamed with his brother, James, and went a perfect 4-0 at No. 2 doubles (6-0 overall).

Franklin Pierce graduate student Kevin Denecheau, playing his first collegiate season, captured NE10 Rookie of the Year honors after an impressive campaign for the Ravens. He went 5-1 at No. 2 singles and was named Third Team All-Conference at No. 2 singles, while also chosen as Second Team All-Conference at No. 2 doubles with partner Ivan Bernal. Both players earned a place on the All-Rookie Team, as well.

Le Moyne's Jeff Lonczak was named NE10 Men's Tennis Coach of the Year, as he led the Dolphins to a perfect 8-0 record in conference play and the regular season title. Lonczak's team is the top seed in the NE10 Championship and will host fourth-seeded Adelphi on Tuesday in the league semifinals.

Two players earned multiple honors on the All-Conference First Team, including Howard and Southern New Hampshire's Willem van Biezen (No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles). Overall, 11 players earned all-conference recognition at both singles and doubles.

The NE10 Men's Tennis Championship continues on Tuesday with the semifinals, as Le Moyne hosts Adelphi and SNHU welcomes Franklin Pierce. For the full schedule and all other championship information, click HERE.

The NE10 Player of the Year award is named in honor of former longtime Springfield College head coach Vern Cox.
