NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Part of a campus-wide community service initiative, the Merrimack College baseball and softball teams took part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Boston on Sunday, October 6. The teams volunteered to walk along the route and cheer on the other participants.

Despite the rainy conditions outside, the Warriors student-athletes were part of a group of more than 40,000 members who showed their support in the fight against breast cancer. Altogether, the event raised more than $2.7 million in fundraising.

"It was an enormous pleasure and honor to join forces with so many outstanding teams and individuals to help raise awareness and contribute our fundraising efforts for such a noble cause," head softball coach Jim Cardello noted. "We pride ourselves on not only being excellent student-athletes, but being excellent representatives of our College and our community, and Sunday's Walk certainly allowed us to do so."

"We were able to show great support/energy for the many survivors and supporters for the event. We are honored to be invited from the Making Strides organization and are very grateful to be able to support a great cause," said head baseball coach Jim Martin.
