Stabile Reaches Rare Wins Plateau.
"On This Date" in 2018, Pace softball's Claudia Stabile joined an elite club by winning her 700th career game as a head coach in her 37th season with the Setters. The Setters won the second game of a doubleheader with Caldwell that day, 12-8, to help Stabile reach the historic mark.
She has been the head coach of the Pace softball team since the program started in the 1982 season, making the 2020 campaign her 39th year in the dugout. She is currently just one of 21 active Division II softball coaches to reach the 700-win plateau.
Pace's offense produced what was season-high numbers in both hits (17) and runs (12) against Caldwell in Stabile's 700th victory, with Niyah Brown going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored to lead the Setters. Additionally, Aby Brambila and Lindsey Ah Soon each added a pair of RBI in the offensive attack.
Late in the 2018 season, Pace went on a nine-game winning streak to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA East Regional – the program's third all-time trip to the NCAA postseason (2015, 2016).
Along with sustained success that Stabile has had in prior decades to joining the "700 Club", she has led Pace to recent accomplishments. The Setters made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015, before going on to win the program's first-ever NE10 Championship in 2016 – which was also the season she was named NE10 Coach of the Year.
