NE10 Softball Teams of the Week: Adelphi, Stonehill

NE10 Softball Teams of the Week: Adelphi, Stonehill

Adelphi

Coach Carla Campagna on her senior class - "While the AU softball program understands the severity of the situation, we are heartbroken and saddened by the cancellation of our season. This 2020 team was something special, my coaching staff and I knew it. We had ten new student-athletes join our family and from the moment they stepped onto campus, they knew the expectations, core values and standards of this program. Out of those ten newcomers, we had three senior transfers that joined our existing three seniors and to see the six seniors not finish competing is what hurts the most. I thank our six seniors for leaving their mark on the program whether it was for one year or all four years, Adelphi will always be their home away from home.

Our team, coaches and staff have worked countless hours preparing for our season and even with this news, I couldn't be more proud of them. With the mixture of emotions and uncertainty the last week or so, I am very grateful for the love and strength from the student-athlete community, Adelphi community, alumni and support staff. Our preparation has already begun for 2021 and I can't wait to get back out to Janet L. Ficke field together. Every practice we start with a quote of the day so I will leave this year with one, 'When you are thinking about the past or worrying about the future, instead focus your energy on the present moment. The now is where your power is the greatest.' - Jon Gordon."

Stonehill

Coach Ken LeGrice on his senior class – "The 2020 senior class, Katie, Kazi, Casey, Cassie and Julia, is an amazing group of women. Their hard wok in the classroom and on the field has put them all in great position to be successful in life. Their preparation for the upcoming season had been nothing short of exceptional. I believe they knew this was the year that they had been working towards their entire career, and it was all coming together. This group had a successful Florida trip and looked forward to returning home for our, always challenging, NE10 schedule.  Then the news came about the season. As a coach, I miss seeing these women every day. This is the time of year where, with softball and classes, our life is non-stop and we don't have time to think. In the last month, we have all had a lot of time to think and I want to say that it has been a pleasure to coach all of these women and I look forward to them always being a part of this team."
