Panthers Selected as NE10 Favorite for Second-Straight Season.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – After claiming its first Northeast-10 title since 2018 last season, Adelphi has been voted the top team in the 2023 Northeast-10 Softball Coaches' Poll, released by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers claimed eleven of thirteen possible first place votes and totaled 143 points to finish ahead of Franklin Pierce who claimed the remaining two first place votes and 125 total points. Adelphi finished atop the NE10 in 2022 after an eleventh-inning walk-off home run against Saint Anselm brought the title back to the program. The Panthers continued on with an East Region Title and a trip to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship in Denver, Colo., ending the season with a 47-15 record under head coach Carla Campagna.
Franklin Pierce has not made an appearance in the NE10 Championship as a program, but will look to do so in 2023. Last season, the Ravens finished 30-12 and recorded an NCAA East Region Tournament appearance.
Saint Anselm, the 2022 runner-up, was selected third in the poll with 124 points while Pace was picked fourth with 103 points. Southern New Hampshire and Assumption rounded our the top six spots in the poll with 98 and 73 points, respectively.
