Bates, Guadalupi Win NE10 Elite 24 Awards in Swimming

Swimming Elite 24

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Second Elite 24 Honor for Guadalupi.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Pace's Brian Bates and Assumption's Anne Guadalupi have earned the Northeast-10 Conference's Elite 24 Award in the sports of men's and women's swimming & diving, respectively, posting the highest grade-point averages among all student-athletes within their sport.

The Elite 24 Award recognizes the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site at each NE10 Championship. No fall or winter championships were held in 2020-21, but the Elite 24 winners have been determined by comparing the GPA of all NE10 student-athletes on a sport-by-sport basis.

For Guadalpui, it is her second-consecutive Elite 24 honor after she earned the award at the 2020 NE10 Swimming & Diving Championships. Bates becomes the third-straight Pace swimmer to win the Elite 24, following Sven Latinovic (2019) and Filip Turecky (2020).

Guadalupi, a senior swimmer, has posted a remarkable 4.0 GPA in biotechnology and molecular biology, the same credentials that won her first Elite 24 a year ago. In the 2020 NE10 Swimming & Diving Championships, Guadalupi was part of the 400 free relay team that set a new NE10 and Assumption record (3:29.31) on its way to a gold-medal finish. She is a two-time member of the NE10 Academic All-Conference Team.

Bates, a senior swimmer, has recorded a 3.861 GPA in digital cinema and filmmaking to earn the Elite 24. During the 2020 NE10 Swimming & Diving Championships, Bates finished 11th in the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:50.86. He also clocked personal bests in the 50 free (23.31) and 100 free (50.27).

The league office will recognize Elite 24 Award winners for the remaining winter sports this week. For fall and winter winners, please see below.
