SCSU Extends Leads On Second Day of NE10 Swimming & Diving Championships

FINAL RESULTS – DAY 2

Owls' Men and Women Combine to Win Five Events on Friday.


WORCESTER, Mass. – The second day of the Northeast-10 Conference Swimming & Diving Championships saw the Southern Connecticut men's and women's programs extend their leads over the field at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center.

The Owls combined to win five events on Friday night – the Men's 500 Free, Men's 200 IM, Men's 50 Free, Women's 400 Medley Relay and Men's 400 Medley Relay. On the men's side, SCSU will enter Saturday with 283 points, as Bentley sits in a close second with 259 points. For the women, SCSU holds a commanding lead with 413.5 points to second-place Bentley's 338.

For the second-straight night, Bentley's Emma Hapkiewicz achieved a B-Cut – this time in the 500 Free with a gold-medal time of 5:00.28. On Thursday night, Hapkiewicz broker her own NE10 Championship record and earned a B-Cut in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:15.02.

Three swimmers achieved NCAA B-Cuts for SCSU, including Faith Littleton (500 Free), McAllistar Milne (500 Free) and Chandler Tucker (200 IM). Littleton finished second to Hapkiewicz in the 500 Free with a time of 5:01.70, which earned her a B-Cut.

Milne won gold in the Men's 500 Free with a time of 4:33.07, less than two seconds off the NE10 Championship record. Tucker placed first in the Men's 200 IM with a time of 1:48.84 – less than one second off the meet record.

Tucker, Milne and teammate Franklin Kuhn – who won gold in the Men's 50 Free (20.73) – all earned multiple golds on Friday, as all three were a part of SCSU's first-place 400 Medley Relay (3:23.15). It was part of a strong finish to the night for the Owls, as the women's program also won their 400 Medley Relay in a time of 3:53.71.

Pace's Sean Rorke won the Men's 1-Meter Diving with 416.80 points and Bentley's Mary Huminski tallied 414.25 points on her way to taking gold in the Women's 3-Meter Diving.
