Embrace the Philosophy: NE10 Track & Field Athletes, Programs Earn All-Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

American International with League-High Six Student-Athletes Honored.


MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference was well-represented last week when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized 18 student-athletes and 15 men's and women's track & field programs with All-Academic honors.  

American International had a league-best six student-athletes, three men and three women, earn All-Academic status when the announcement was made last Thursday, July 16. Benoit Campion, the NE10 Man of the Year, was included among the recognized Yellow Jackets.

Five other NE10 programs had a pair of student-athletes selected. For a complete list of student-athletes named All-Academic by the USTFCCCA, please see below.

To be eligible for All-Academic honors as an athlete, the following criteria must be met:

  • Minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition.
  • Must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution.
  • Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.
  • The student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The NE10 also produced 15 All-Academic Teams – including both the men's and women's programs at Adelphi, American International, Assumption, Bentley, Franklin Pierce, New Haven and Stonehill. The Southern Connecticut women's team rounded-out the honorees for the league.

To be named an All-Academic Team, the criteria is the following:

  • The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for indoor and/or outdoor track & field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar.
  • Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.

The NE10 saw an increase in All-Academic honors for both individuals (18) and teams (15) this year, after having 11 student-athletes and six teams recognized following the 2018-19 season.

ABOUT THE NE10
Beginning its 40th anniversary season, the NE10 is an association of 14 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.

Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 24 sports, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship.
