NE10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Jordany Dely, New Haven
Junior | Spring Valley, N.Y.

Dely took home a pair of first place honors to open up the 22-23 indoor season, winning the sprint hurdles event at both the Elm City Challenge and the Suffolk Relays. He opened up the season on Friday with a time of 7.63 in the 55-m hurdles to lead the way to a 1-2 finish for UNH at the Elm City Challenge. The next day he sprinted his way to another first place finish, this time in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.29. Both his times in the 55m & 60m events were NCAA Provisional marks


NE10 Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Zerion Montgomery, New Haven
Sophomore | Derby, Conn.

Montgomery picked up a trio of title honors on opening weekend, winning the long jump at both the Elm City Challenge and the Suffolk Relays with those two performances coming less than 24 hours apart. In the opening meet of the season, Montgomery took home the title with a leap of 22'5", nearly a foot farther than his closest competition. He followed that up by extending his long jump mark by three inches to take top honors the very next day at the Suffolk Relays and took it one step further by also taking first place honors in the triple jump at the Suffolk Relays with a leap of 44'11.5", more than three feet longer than his closest competition.


NE10 Men's Track Rookie of the Week

J'Quan Athis, New Haven
Freshman | New Haven, Conn.

In his first collegiate meet, Athis finished with a pair of fourth place finishes in his throwing events. He opened up his career with the shot put where he hit a distance of 44'8", which is an NCAA provisional mark, hitting that distance on his fifth, of six, attempts. He followed that up with the weight throw where he again hit a provisional mark with a distance of 46'11.5" to finish fourth in that event.


NE10 Men's Field Rookie of the Week

Yoofi Abaka-Amuah, Assumption
Freshman | Worcester, Mass.

Abaka-Amuah had a historic start to his career at the 36th Alden Invite at Brown, as the Freshman thrower broke the Assumption shot put record, as he came in second with a throw of 16.24m (53.3'). He also finished sixth in the weighted throw with a distance of 15.08m.


NE10 Men's Relay of the Week

4x400 Relay, Adelphi

The men's 4x400 "A" relay came from behind to capture the gold at the Youree Spence-Garcia meet over the weekend - besting the field in 3:27.12. The quartet of Christopher Holt, Chuck Nwankwo, Giovanni Senat and Kyle Cronin defeated several Division I competitors in the process.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Bryan Combary, Adelphi (So. - Harrisburg, Pa.)
Bryan Combary posted a time of 8.73 to take the individual title in the 60HH over the weekend at the Youree Spence-Garcia Meet hosted by St. John's University.

Khalil Chester, Adelphi (Jr. - Amityville, N.Y.)
Khalil Chester jumped 6.79m on his second attempt in the long jump over the weekend, to place third overall behind competitors from Fordham and St. Peter's.

Cameron Belton, Southern Conn. St. (Sr. - Baltic, Conn.)
At the Art Kadish Elm City Classic, Cameron Belton broke the meet record in the Shot Put with a throw of 16.32m (53'5").

Eli Henry, Southern Conn. St. (Jr. - Stratford, Conn.)
At Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Eli Henry posted the top NCAA Divsion II time of the season in the 300 Meters, finishing with a time of 33.95.

Shane Smith, Southern Conn. St. (Sr. - Stonington, Conn.)
At the Art Kadish Elm City Classic, Shane Smith won the Heptathlon after winning the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.19, the 1,000 Meters with a time of 2:51.07, and the Shot Put with a distance of 12.64m. He also finished second in the Pole Vault at 4.12m, and second in the Long Jump at 6.32m. He compiled a personal-best 4761 points, which is also the eighth best score in SCSU Indoor history.
