Franklin Pierce Repeats as NE10 Women's Golf Champion

Third Title in Four Seasons for the Ravens.


BELCHERTOWN, Mass. – The Franklin Pierce women's golf team won the 2021 Spring Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Thursday evening at Cold Spring Country Club, earning the program's third league title in the past four seasons.

Graduate student Zoey Yamamoto claimed individual medalist honors with a +25 (167), her second top-three finish at an NE10 Championship. Three players for Franklin Pierce finished in the top four on the leaderboard and earned All-Championship Team honors, as the Ravens (+128) won the title by 17 strokes.

In a one-day, 36-hole tournament, Franklin Pierce led Stonehill by only two strokes after the first round of 18. The Ravens used a championship-best +57 in the second round to widen their advantage and clinch the NE10 title.

Stonehill (+145) finished as tournament runner-up for the first time in program history. Assumption (+165) and Saint Rose (+166) finished third and fourth, respectively.

Franklin Pierce received contributions from Yamamoto, as well as freshman Kayla Schuberth, who placed third overall at +29 (171) and sophomore Alia Godek, who tied for fourth overall at +34 (176). Stonehill's top finisher was sophomore Julia Dapron, who finished second overall at +28 (170).

Yamamoto carded a league-best 80 in the second round, with Godek scoring an 81 to lead the Ravens' charge in the afternoon. Godek led all players with 16 pars on Thursday.

Adelphi freshman Hannah Trinh, Assumption senior Samantha Leary, Saint Rose sophomore Jenna Werle and Stonehill sophomore Emily Kase all tied for fourth at +34 (176), rounding-out the All-Championship Team. 

In each championship since the NE10 began sponsoring women's golf in 2015, Franklin Pierce has earned a top-two finish - winning three titles and earning four runner-up trophies.

Leary was named the Elite 24 Award winner for the second time in her career. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.907 as a double major in English and elementary education. The Elite 24 honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site of each NE10 Championship.
