Adelphi's Ilaria Ponziani Leads All Players With a 69.


SOUTHWICK, Mass. – Three-time defending champion Franklin Pierce is the front runner after the first of two rounds of the NE10 Women's Golf Championship. The Ravens shot a 315 to take just a 10-stroke lead over Adelphi on Saturday afternoon at the Ranch Golf Club. 

Franklin Pierce has three players in the top 10, and are led by Kesinee Prukmathakul who shot a 1-under 71, good for second place. Phisonlaya Ruayruen sits tied for third behind Prukmathakul with a 76, and teammate Alia Godek shot an 82 on the day to help the Ravens secure the top spot at the conclusion of the first round. 

Individually, Adelphi sophomore Ilaria Ponziani shot a conference-best 69 to finish -3 on the day. She also sits atop the field in pars and birdies with 13 and four, respectively. Ponziani (69) and Prukmathakul (71) are the only two individuals to shoot under par on the round. Rounding out the top three are Ruayruen of Franklin Pierce and Jenny Walsh of Assumption, both tied for third with a 76. 

Adelphi sits in second place with a 325 overall while Le Moyne trails with a 339, just one stroke ahead of Assumption in fourth with a 340. 

Day 2 of the NE10 Women's Golf Championship is scheduled for Monday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at the Ranch Golf Club. To follow live results, CLICK HERE.
