Franklin Pierce & Saint Rose Soccer Programs Honored

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Franklin Pierce University men's soccer finished the spring ranked No. 2 in the nation and its coaching staff has subsequently been honored as the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches Men's East Regional Staff of the Year, while the women's soccer staff at Saint Rose was recognized as the East Regional Staff of the Year.

Each of the 43 (21 men's and 22 women's) staffs receiving Regional Staff of the Year honors will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony, which will be made available to view online as a digital event beginning June 30.

In addition, the Regional Staff of the Year recipients have been placed on the ballot for United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division.

Saint Rose head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil led her program to a 1-0 mark this spring with a 1-0 victory over Daemen. The Golden Knights are the defending NE10 Champions and her staff includes husband Jason Gutheil as well as Meeghan Arno, Kailey Egbert, Renae Ransdell and Morgan Burchardt.

Franklin Pierce head coach Ruben Resendes' staff consisting of assistant coaches Brendan Pacheco, Dominik Machado, Niklas Laudahn, David Walsh, and Sheddy Agbonsalo were the NCAA Division II East Region Staff of the Year after guiding the Ravens to a perfect record in their spring season.

Pierce earned back-to-back victories against Northeast-10 Conference opponent American International University out producing the Yellow Jackets 8-to-1 combined in both matches. Pierce then headed south on the road to take on Providence College, which played three NCAA Division I tournament games in 2019 with FPU earning the 2-1 victory. The Crimson and Gray also earned exhibition victories over New Haven and Division I Albany.
