Week 1 - September 6, 2021
NE10 Player/Rookie of the Week
Alyssa Anderson, Southern New Hampshire
Sophomore (Freshman Eligibility) | Forward/Midfield | Londonderry, N.H.
Anderson registered a hat trick with three goals in Sunday's 4-0 victory against Staten Island. She started the scoring in the fifth minute and then tacked on two second-half goals to put the contest out of reach, as part of a 2-0 week for the Penmen.
NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Viridiana Vazquez Kloss, Franklin Pierce
Junior | Back | Veracruz, Mexico
Helped lead a defense which posted a pair of clean sheets in the season's opening week, with a 4-0 win at Dominican (N.Y.) on Friday and a 5-0 win at St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. Contributed at the other end of the field as well, with a goal and an assist for a three-point game in Saturday's win.
NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week
Paige Davis, New Haven
Graduate | Goalkeeper | Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The starting graduate keeper for the Chargers, Davis led New Haven to a 2-0 opening weekend with wins against Post and Georgian Court while securing 11 saves across the two games. She opened the season with five saves against Post before surpassing that by one in a Sunday evening win over the Lions. The clean sheet against Georgian Court on Sunday was the second of her career.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Rachel Newman, American Int'l (Fr, B - Weymouth, Mass.)
Newman had a huge week for AIC at both ends of the field. She scored the game-winning tally in her first game against Staten Island, and helped AIC's defense to a pair of shutouts, keeping the opposing teams to a total of three shots on goal in 200 minutes of play.
Tamra Zippin, American Int'l (Jr, GK - Monson, Mass.)
Zippin was perfect in net over 200 minutes of play in two games, leading AIC to a pair of shutouts, including in a scoreless draw with Mercy where she needed to be perfect and was.
Kat Hassapis, Bentley (Gr, GK - North Reading, Mass.)
Hassapis made 10 saves in Bentley's season opening game against Molloy. She stopped seven shots in regulation and three in overtime.
Gabby Calidonio, Franklin Pierce (Fr., GK - Flagler Beach, Fla.)
Did not allow a goal over 160:41 in front of the Franklin Pierce net in a 2-0-0 week. Stopped all four shots she faced in Friday's opener to pick up the shutout in her collegiate debut, a 4-0 win at Dominican (N.Y.). Made two saves over the first 70:41 to pick up the win in a 5-0 victory at St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday.
Hailey Goodman, Franklin Pierce (Fr., F - Blackstone, Mass.)
Chalked up five points on two goals and an assist in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. Attempted five shots over the two games, all of which were on goal. Did all of her damage on Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas, when she scored twice and added an assist in the second half of a 5-0 win.
Isabel Villar, Pace (Sr., M - Pomona, N.Y.)
Villar served as a vital piece in Pace's first two wins of the 2021 season. The defensive midfielder played the full 90 minutes in shutout triumphs over Georgian Court and Post. In addition to relenting zero goals in either contest, the Setters allowed just three shots on target in 180 total minutes of action.
Izzy Ruprecht, St. Michael's (Jr., M - Kingston, Mass.)
Ruprecht buried a penalty kick in both contests of a 1-1 week. Her 65th-minute strike accounted for the lone goal in a 1-0 win against Roberts Wesleyan on Thursday before Ruprecht connected in the 61st minute to put the Purple Knights up 2-1 on Sunday during an eventual 3-2 double-overtime loss to Caldwell.
Kaelyn Britt, Saint Rose (Jr, F - Bronx, N.Y.)
Britt came off the bench to score two goals in Friday's 3-0 season-opening win versus Caldwell.
Marika Laurendeau, Saint Rose (Sr, GK - Sainte-Julie, Quebec)
Quarterbacked the Golden Knights defense to back-to-back shutouts to open the season, including Sunday's 4-0 victory at eighth-ranked Jefferson University.
Z Kaplan, Southern N.H. (So., GK - Smithtown, N.Y.)
Kaplan stopped three of the four shots they faced during a 2-0-0 week for the Penmen. Kaplan made a pair of saves in Friday's 2-1 win at Bridgeport and then notched their first career shutout by turning away the only shot they faced in a 4-0 blanking of Staten Island on Sunday.
