NE10 Player of the Week

Cristina Solorzano Valenica, Stonehill
Sophomore | Morelia, Mexico

Solorzano Valencia, the East Region's No. 6-ranked singles player, posted a combined 4-0 record in a 2-0 week for the regionally-ranked Skyhawks at No. 1 singles and doubles. Opened the week as a double-winner in Wednesday's 7-0 win over Assumption, teaming up with sophomore Steffi Antao to clinch the doubles point with their 6-3 win at No. 1. Solorzano Valencia added a 6-3, 7-5 triumph over former NE10 Player of the Year Julia Chappell. Solorzano Valencia and Antao also clinched the doubles point in Sunday's 4-0 win at regionally-ranked Le Moyne with a 6-4 win. She capped the week with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Dolphins junior Birdem Oz, ranked No. 7 in the Oracle/ITA East Region singles rankings.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Elizabeth Janiak, Saint Anselm
Freshman | Nashua, N.H.

Janiak went a combined 1-1 this past week, including a win at No. 5 singles as part of a 7-0 team victory over Saint Michael's. She beat Saint Michael's Sarah Knickerbocker in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). 


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Nicole Kielan, Adelphi (Sr. - Valley Stream, N.Y.)
Won her second-straight No. 1 singles match and improved to 3-2 at the top flight with a 6-0, 6-1 straight-set victory over Bentley's Adriana Hiraldo last Wednesday. Also remained undefeated in doubles with a 6-0 sweep at the top position.

Magdalena Hubickova, Southern New Hampshire (So. - Prague, Czech Republic)
Hubickova went 2-0 during a 1-1 week for the Penmen. Hubickova breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Anastasia Kapothanasis at No. 1 singles in Sunday's 6-1 win against Saint Anselm. She and junior Alexxa Etienne also combined at No. 1 singles for a 6-0 win against Emily Jacy and Maikah Bulpitt. Hubickova was leading at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles when Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Franklin Pierce was clinched.

Steffi Antao, Stonehill (So. - New Hyde Park, N.Y.)
Helped the regionally-ranked Skyhawks to a 2-0 week by posting a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play. She and sophomore Cristina Solorzano Valencia were 2-0 at No. 1 doubles for the week, notching the doubles-clinching points in wins over Assumption and Le Moyne. Antao also posted two wins at No. 2 singles, starting with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Assumption freshman Caitlin Sze, and then added a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Marta Nunez on Sunday to clinch the match win against the regionally-ranked Dolphins.
