Ravens Win NE10 Regular Season Title.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Franklin Pierce claimed the top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship, as announced by the league office on Friday night, after winning the NE10 regular season title with a perfect 9-0 record in conference play.
As announced on April 1, all NE10 teams will qualify for postseason play. For seedings and matchups for the 2021 NE10 Women's Tennis Championship, please see the schedule below for dates and times of the first round, quarterfinals, semifinals and championship final.
It is the first time since the 2013 season that a team other than Adelphi and Stonehill won the regular season title. Franklin Pierce will be looking for its first NE10 women's tennis title in program history this postseason. The Ravens are even just one victory away from their first-ever semifinal appearance.
Franklin Pierce is the biggest surprise this season, as it was picked to finish sixth in the NE10 Women's Tennis Coaches' Poll before the season began.
The top six seeds in the NE10 Championship – Franklin Pierce, Adelphi, Stonehill, Le Moyne, Southern New Hampshire and New Haven – will all receive first-round byes and play in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, April 28.
The first round of the NE10 Championship is Sunday, April 25. Assumption will host American International in the 7-10 matchup, while Bentley welcomes Saint Anselm for the 8-9 matchup with a chance to advance to the quarterfinals against the top-seeded Ravens.
Conference winning percentage was the metric used to determine championship seeding, as not all teams played the same number of contests due to COVID-19 protocol.
The NE10 Championship match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Sunday, May 2. Time is to be determined.
Stay tuned for weather-related updates @TheNortheast10 on Twitter. Match times are always subject to change due to inclement weather and indoor court availability.
All matches may be impacted by the conference's COVID-19 protocols, but no bracket adjustments will be made after Thursday evening. If a team is not available to play, it will be recorded as a "No Contest" and their opponent will advance to the next round.
