NE10 Player of the Week

Magdalena Hubickova, Southern New Hampshire

Hubickova went 4-0, including 2-0 at No. 1 singles, during a 2-0 week that clinched the Penmen their first NE10 regular season championship since 2012-13. Hubickova defeated Irene Garbo, 6-3, 6-4, in Tuesday's 7-0 win at Saint Anselm and then shut out Makena Romagnano, 6-0, 6-0, in a 7-0 blanking of Bentley on Saturday. Hubickova also teamed with Alexxa Etienne for a pair of No. 1 doubles wins. The duo took down Saint Anselm's Garbo and Olivia Parzick, 6-0, and then made quick work of Bentley's Maria Mella and Adriano Hiraldo. 


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Valentinna Ferrarini, New Haven
Freshman | Caxias do Sul, Brazil

Another 4-0 week for the New Haven rookie, Ferrarini led the Chargers to a pair of 7-0 shutout wins and a fourth place finish in the NE10 standings heading into the conference championship this week. Both of her doubles wins on the week came in the No. 1 position and partnered with sophomore Karim Carreras, as the pair shutout both of their doubles opponents on the week. She also took both single victories in the No. 1 position and both coming in straight sets.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Liria Loria , Franklin Pierce (Sr. - La Paz, Bolivia)
In two matches this past week, Loria went two-for-two in both singles and doubles action, including a pair of clean sweep victories versus Saint Michael's College in singles (6-0, 6-0) and doubles (6-0). For the Raven senior, she has posted wins in her last four matchups in each.

Irene Garbo, Saint Anselm (Fr. - Assemini, Sardinia, Italy)
Helping her team to its first six-team NE10 postseason appearance in over a decade, Garbo wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Saint Michael's shortly after partnering with Olivia Parzick at No. 1 doubles for a 6-4 win. Just one match prior, Garbo battled 2021 NE10 Player of the Year Magdalena Hubickova to a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 loss.
 
Bree Cotroneo, Saint Michael's (Sr. - Middlebury, Vt.)
Cotroneo went 2-1 at No. 2 singles last week. She downed a foe from SUNY Plattsburgh, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), on Friday and Saint Anselm, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4, on Saturday. Her lone loss came against 61st-ranked Franklin Pierce on Wednesday. Cotroneo lost three times at No. 1 doubles, including by an 8-4 count at SUNY Plattsburgh and 6-4 against Saint Anselm.
 
Alina Kupfer, Southern New Hampshire (Fr. - Munich, Germany)
Kupfer finished 4-0, including 2-0 at No. 2 singles, during a 2-0 week for SNHU, as it clinched its first NE10 regular season title in a decade. Kupfer blanked Anastasia Kapothanasis, 6-0, 6-0, in a 7-0 win at Saint Anselm on Tuesday and then downed Maria Mella, 6-1, 6-1, in a 7-0 shutout of Bentley on Saturday. Kupfer and graduate student Verena Weindl also scored a 6-2 No. 2 doubles victory against Saint Anselm's Abigail Svor and Camila Heredia Osante, and a 6-1 win over Bentley's Makena Romagnano and Anna Lang at No. 2.
